Richard Rogers has been made a Companion of Honour in the Queen’s Birthday List.

The peer, who was created Baron Rogers of Riverside in 1996, is in good company, joining the likes of Lucian Freud, Stephen Hawking, David Attenborough, David Hockney and former Prime Minister John Major. Lord Rogers’ projects include the Millennium Dome, the Pompidou Centre and the Lloyd’s Building Mr Rogers said: “I am very proud to be made a Companion of Honour and grateful for the opportunity it gives me to raise awareness of the importance of quality in architecture and design. “I would also like to thank all those people I have worked with in more than 40 years as an architect. This recognition is as much for their achievements as it is for mine.” Michael Finn, chairman of the Building Regulations Advisory Committee, was awarded an MBE for services to building standards, and Anthony Paul Rossi received a CBE for services to Heritage and to Conservation. Other awards include an OBE for services to Civil Engineering for Gordon Masterson, vice-president of the Environment Business Centre at Jacobs Engineering group, and Elizabeth Robson, MD of Robson Builders, also received an OBE for services to the construction industry. OBE’s also went to Peter Lobban, chief executive of CITB-ConstructionSkills, for services to further education, skills, and training.
