The Grade I listed North Wing at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, West Smithfield EC1 could be turned into a luxury hotel.

Barts and the NHS Trust are seeking a property consultant to advise on future uses for the site and the adjacent Tudor-built gatehouse. The £100k contract is for advice on the “restoration, future use and long term preservation” of the buildings and “identifying commercial opportunities.

According to one potential bidder, the site would be ideal for a luxury hotel.

This latest move comes in the wake of a series of proposals for parts of the hospital, currently undergoing a £1bn development.
